Hearing Impaired Pre-School & Primary Outreach
A Teacher of the Deaf will support some pupils through the primary age range if they attend a mainstream or special school, dependent on the level of loss.
Due to the numbers of children with HI currently in mainstream placements regular visits are only possible to those of the highest priority. Frequent visits are based around individual or small group sessions with the child with targets that link with school IEP’s. Monitoring visits consist of observations, language assessments and recommendations to the school. Training is also available to these schools as part of their INSET. Reports may be made to inform Annual review meetings and the application procedure for statements.
Some audiological support is available to schools, and there is a loan stock of radio aids that can be used by schools in order to provide reasonable adjustments before purchasing them.
PLEASE NOTE - If you require to get in contact with the Hearing Impaired Provision (HIP) at Icknield Primary School, please go to the 'About Us' section. The manager is Sarah Jeffery.
