Public Sector Equality Duty

The Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) is a legal requirement that helps public bodies in the UK consider equality in their day-to-day work. For schools, this means we actively think about how our decisions and actions affect pupils, staff, and the wider community. At Icknield Primary, we use the PSED to support fair outcomes and to help ensure all children are treated with respect and have equal opportunities to learn and thrive.

As a school, we focus on eliminating unlawful discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity, and fostering good relations between different groups. This includes considering needs related to protected characteristics such as disability, race, religion or belief, and age. We use this approach to plan learning, support, and resources, and to review how well our provision meets the needs of all pupils, including those who may require additional help.

Here are our Public Sector Equality Duty Documents.
